What we do and don't do
Product before profit. Help before hype. Accuracy before confidence. Being clear about our limits is part of being useful.
What we do
- Turn a confusing situation into organised facts.
- Separate what is established from what still needs checking.
- Give you the specific questions to ask the person quoting you.
- Lay out the options that genuinely exist, with what's for and against each.
- Point out red flags, hidden costs and pressure tactics.
- Leave you with a short, prioritised plan and a record you can return to.
What we don't do
- We are not a mechanic, contractor, attorney, financial adviser, insurer or doctor.
- We do not promise to save you money — we help you decide better.
- We do not invent prices, regulations or sources.
- We do not call something a scam simply because it looks unusual.
- We do not claim to have verified anything we haven't.
How to read what we tell you
- 'What we know' is drawn from what you provided — it is only as accurate as your input.
- 'Needs verification' means exactly that: nobody has confirmed it yet.
- Red flags are worth asking about, not proof of wrongdoing.
- Where reliable sources disagree, we'll say so rather than pick one.
When to get a professional
- Anything involving safety — gas, electrical, structural or medical.
- Anything with a legal deadline, a court date or a signed contract in dispute.
- Any amount large enough that a professional's fee is small by comparison.
- Whenever you'd simply feel better with someone qualified looking at it.
